I am fascinated by Paganism and Witchcraft. I have always been interested in it since I was a teenager.
I was brought up in a christian household, we didn’t really do church, just at Easter and Christmas, but I’ve never believed in Jesus or god or any kind of divine ruler for want of a better phrase, I’ve always believed in nature, the power of the earth and the seasons and most importantly the power of your own mind.
When I started looking into different belief systems as a teenager I found that Paganism, Neo-Paganism, Wicca, Druidism, any of these areas really spoke to me.
Now I don’t class myself as having any religion at all, I still believe in mother nature and the seasons, the effect the moon and the planets can have on us, do I believe in Magic? No, not in the sense that you can saw through someone or disappear, but I do believe in positive thinking, fate and karma.
I love that Pagans work with nature, they worship nature, at the end of the day we all end up back there in some form. The earth sustains us whilst we destroy it and I also destroy it.
I have oil central heating, I run a car, I like my modern day comforts, but I also want to protect what I can, the birds, plants etc. I like to grow my own herbs and flowers for use in herbal remedies, things like lip balm, bath salts etc.
If I were ever asked to put myself in a ‘religous’ box I would call myself an Eclectic Witch, someone who doesn’t worship anything in particular and takes influence from lots of different cultures, religions, traditions etc.
I like to work with herbs, I believe in the power of the mind and what you can accomplish should you work for it, I believe in only putting that which you would like returned out into the world, be that good or bad, the three fold law applies to everything you do.
Do I always put good out into the world? No, I’m human, I get angry, I get annoyed and I can get mega bitchy when I want to, but I also don’t blame others when something horrible happens in my life.
‘coughs’ ok I’m off to dance around my garden in the buff whilst chanting (this is a joke, witches don’t do this shit, it’s too cold).
